The Tire Recycling Center will be open the FIRST SATURDAY of each month from 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. (Noon) unless falls on a Holiday in which case will be open on second saturday.

Tennessee Code 39-14-503 states that any motor vehicle which transports any material likely to fall or be blown off onto highways shall be required to have such material either in an enclosed space or fully covered by a tarpaulin.
Violation of this law is a Class B misdemeanor and could result in a $200 fine.


EFFECTIVE JUNE 12, 2004- Washington County Convenience Centers will no longer accept tires. All tires MUST be brought to the tire site. Pricing for tires will be as follows:
Passenger tire-----------------------------------$1.00
Passenger tire with rim--------------------------$2.00
Truck tire (20" or larger in diameter)-----------$5.00
Truck tire (20" or larger in diameter) with rim--$10.00
Rear tractor tire----------------------------------$5.00
Rear tractor tire with rim-------------------------$10.00

**NOTE: WASHINGTON COUNTY "RESIDENTS" are allowed (8) tires per year at no charge. Any tires over that amount are charged the rates above.

DIRECTIONS:
Take I-26 North, Exit 45 (Eastern Star Road), turn left at end of exit, go 3/4 mile and take 3rd road to right, (Winchester Drive), go down the hill and road will "Y",
stay around curve to left (Lancaster Road), the Tire Site is located at the bottom of the hill on the right.

Please remember: Old tires laying around hold water, this attracts mosquitoes, which carries various diseases.


The 2010 Household Hazardous Waste Collection date has been set for Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Science Hill Vocational Parking Lot "I" on Liberty Bell Blvd. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. til 2:00 p.m.

Following is a list of some of the items that are accepted during the collection:

All households are encouraged to participate. Some of the items that will be accepted are: 1) Paint 2) Aerosols 3) Pesticides 4) Automotive Fluids 5) Batteries 6) Cleaners 7) Household Electronics (example: computer components, portable TV, cell phones..etc) 8) Fluorescent Tubes - 8 Ft. max.

NO explosives, radioactive materials, or commercial wastes will be accepted.

Note: Please sort items before you arrive at the Convenience Center. Rinse containers and remove lids. No hazardous materials or commercial waste will be accepted.

Effective August 28, 2006 Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling will begin taking Electronic waste at the County Convenience Centers. Electronic waste should be kept separate from the trash that is going into the waste stream and into the landfill.
E-waste is anything that contains a circuit board, screen, or is considered computer hardware accessories.
The attendants working at the convenience centers will show the patrons where they can place the e-waste.
No Business or commercial waste can be accepted at the convenience centers.

  • THANKSGIVING

  • CHRISTMAS

  • MEMORIAL DAY
