The Washington County Health Department is currently offering the H1N1 (swine flu) nasal mist vaccine to the public by appointment. This live vaccine is recommended for persons ages 2-49 who:

1. Do not have chronic conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, asthma, diabetes or kidney disease.
2. Are not pregnant
3. Have not recently been on long-term steroid treatment
4. Do not have a weakened immune system for any other reason
5. Have not taken anti-viral drugs such as Tamiflu in the 48 hours before the H1N1 nasal mist appointment
6. Do not have a history of Guillain-Barre snydrome
7. Have not received the nasal mist seasonal flu vaccine in the past 30 days

The Washington County Health Department is currently scheduling appointments for the H1N1 vaccine shots. These appointments will be made for clinics scheduled as the H1N1 vaccine arrives. This vaccine is recommended for people between the ages of 2 and 64.

For appointments to receive the H1N1 nasal mist or shot vaccine, please call 423-975-2200 and follow the prompts for the flu information line.

There is no cost for the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine at the Washington County Health Department.
